Over the years I’ve developed into an allrounder in the media. I’ve covered issues from international politics to culture and small county fairs, for broadcast, websites, newspapers and magazines alike. I’ve worked as a reporter, producer, and presenter. I’ve also delved into the world of corporate communications while working as a communications advisor for the Finnish Embassy in Nicaragua. However, I discovered early on in my career — reporting for the regional radio station Yle Tampereen radio in the early 2000s —, that live broadcasts are my most natural habitat.
Taiteen paikka
Since 2022, I have acted as the coordinator and contributing editor to Taiteen paikka, an online publication by The Reality Research Centre and Voima magazine. This medium, focused on contemporary art and especially live art, has allowed me to combine my in-depth knowledge and understanding of the field together with my expertise as a journalist and producer. The site also allows for playful and experimental forms of journalism: in June 2022, Taiteen paikka published “24 reasons to make art” in the form of an advent calendar in anticipation of Midsummer.
Kohti Linnan juhlia 2020 and 2021
Kohti Linnan juhlia is a three-hour-long live TV broadcast by The Finnish Broadcasting Company Yle, transmitted yearly on Independence Day 6 December. The show leads up to the official celebrations and broadcast from the Presidential Palace (Linnan juhlat). I worked as a reporter and background editor for this production in 2020 and 2021. Yle Radio News 12/12/2019 at 12pm
I currently work as a freelancer for Yle Uutiset, popping in whenever an extra pair of hands is needed. On December 12th 2019, I was presenting the nation-wide radio newscasts. It was a pretty busy day at the radio news desk — half an hour before the newscast at noon we found out that a couple of stories had fallen through and there was a gaping hole in our programme. We quickly came up with a plan.

First vegan snack stand opens for business in Helsinki
The first ever fully vegan snack bar was opened in Helsinki in August 2016. What made the event more special was that the business was crowdfunded by a group of people who met on Facebook. On the day of the opening I wrote an article for the Yle Uutiset webpage and also conducted a live interview on location for the regional TV news broadcast.

Kehto Experimance
In the mid 2010s, Yle was catching up on the production of news videos that are suitable for the web and social media. In this particular example, cameraman-editor Antti Kolppo and I covered a performance project called Kehto Experimance in true gonzo style. As is most often the case in the news, the story was planned, filmed and edited during one regular 8-hour work shift.

Security and crime in Helsinki
On December 2nd 2015, the Helsinki police department held a press conference on security and crime in the city. There had been a slight increase in the number of suspected rapes. In some of these cases the suspect was an asylum seeker. The number of racist crimes was also on the rise. I covered the event live on Twitter for the Yle Uutiset website and compiled news stories for TV and radio.
